Açoite-me novamente, golpeie-me, rasgue-me de novo, de novo! |
Segredo cadenciado gritado através da madeira renovada. |
Pensamentos solitários e acalentados entregando-se à latitude. |
Manto emocional desdobrado posto a dormir sobre estrofes. |
QUANDO ME TORNEI HOMEM
Pergunte-me quando me tornei homem. Quando minha avó morreu. |

The Poetry of Vulnerability
I WILL LOVE YOU TILL
Residue on my lips of the treacly arsenic in the dreamed tales you laid. |
Every day I absorb its attar every day it slowly slaughters. |
This heart oxidises steadily it fades, stalls it quivers, fades, stalls. |
Scourge me again smite me tear me again, again! |
I infer I relish this throe for at no time do I, before you, refuse to grovel. |
Thrall of a murky sentiment. Addicted to the opium of your fantasised lechery. |
Without ruth for myself without asking you any. |
Not fearful anymore. Insensitive. Insensible. |
Spit on my feelings, strike my soul, rend hopes! |
Till mayhap I will discern that I cannot, I must not subsist this way. |
Yet, I have a poet spirit. A thirst for tragedy of a damned lot. |
| And never I will learn. |
I will love you till it will be too late to survive you. |
SOMETIMES I NEED THIS POETRY
Sometimes I need the bliss of poetry the mute song of these humid letters. |
That peace of aching verses living in an ember allure. |
Lilting secret screamed through renewed wood. |
Lonely cherished thoughts indulging in latitude. |
Unfurled emotional mantle put to sleep on strophes. |
If read, it awakes, it swathes you in passions. |
Sometimes I need this poetry and the feeling of souls’ pieces flourishing against time. |
WHEN I BECAME A MAN
And it was with the waning summer wind that she inhaled her final morsel of air. |
The corse now empty and dull, surrounded by familiar faces, erstwhile contained a wild spirit, mayhap more than mine. |
The cold of the second month forged her heart at birth, forever burning against the human frost. |
From the banks of Piave to the Andes of Venezuela with mettle and grace through her plot she soared. On her lived remains a smile settled therefore. |
She taught me how to wish upon stars and dance my fate among them. |
She once told me the worst man I could possibly be, was the cowardly one. |
That it did not matter if I had the world against me, if I believed in something mine was the duty of espousing it. Because no sense of living resides in an existence of fear, nor in a fear of existence. |
Her death indited the epilogue of an extraordinary journey. Will she be proud of my own? Hereafter, it will never be known. |
After she passed in my reality colours changed, my last dust of childhood those tears washed away. |
Suddenly it all felt heavier for the awareness that the day will come when I will be the only one who can hold together the leaky muddle which is Marco’s script. |
So I packed my bags, I flew across the Alps to the city that awaited my presence. And here I have to act like everything is going as planned even if I am trying to stand straight when my universe just turned upside down. |
I guess this happens when we grow up, we realise that life does not stop for us. It does not pause for you to have the time to rise and clean your grimy hands soiled by the mud of its continuous, tiny, savage, painful inconveniences, even if she was the one throwing you there. Exactly she, that unconcerned caring life which I love and hate so much and seems to be so keen on challenging me, over and over. |
Hence, as all adults, I scratch some strength out of my ancestors’ spirits and I just repeat to myself that tiny white lie, that little promise I cannot be sure to keep: “Everything will turn out fine”. |
Ask me when I became a man. When my grandma died. |
